Kate had been planning this out for a while now. Ever since she’d found the ring on their shelf, she’d made plans to propose to Nate. She knew they wouldn’t necessarily be getting married soon but at least she’d be able to call him her fiancé. She waited until he had a home game while she invited his and her family down so they would be there for the big event. She had everything ready to go, waiting down in the locker room before heading to the dugout as the game drew to an end. She could feel her nerves building up as the end drew near and Nate pitched his last pitch of the game. She cheered with everyone else when she realized they had won, hoping to keep the spirit up as the announcer spot and made everyone turn their attention to the big screen. She took a deep breath before running out onto the field and laughing at the confused look on her boyfriend’s face.
“So everyone’s probably confused about why I’m out here on the field and why you all have to look at the big screen. Well there’s a good reason for that.” Her accent was a bit thicker than normal, her nerves starting to get to her what with everyone looking at her but that didn’t stop her from continuing on. “See the other day I was cleaning through our house, putting things back on the shelves after our most recent little trip/date and I found something that I probably wasn’t supposed to find just yet. Then it made me think…why was I sitting there waiting for Nate when I could take charge. Our relationship was never normal so I figured I’d keep up our unusual tradition. If everyone could look up at the big screen again.”
As everyone looked away, Kate dug out the little box in her pocket while getting down on one knee and holding open the box as the screen refocused on her. She heard gasp vibrate throughout the stands along with squeals and laughter as people realized what she was doing. None of that mattered though, not like the look on Nate’s face as the camera focused in one the ring case.
“So what do you say Benny boy? Be my player two?

Nate knows that he pushed her pretty far in the rink and while he feels good that he turned her on so much, he does realize that he probably shouldn’t have done that in front of a bunch of guys. “You always win, Kate.” He pulls back and looks up at her so that she’ll know that. No matter what they do, he’ll always say that she wins because he’s so damn lucky to have her in the first place. Really, it feels like he’s already won the best prize ever by being her boyfriend. When Kate pulls away and moves over to the passenger side, he closes the door and starts up the car. Nate squeezes her hand and looks over, waiting to pull away so that he can listen to her talk and give his girlfriend 100% of his attention. His eyebrows shoot up at the thought of teaching her how to pitch and hit a ball at the cages. A grin forms on his face and he nods quickly. “I can definitely teach you how to do all of that. But we gotta stop by the condo because you are not using that shitty equipment that they keep there.” Nate starts to pull out of the parking lot, but stops at the stop sign then looks over at his girlfriend. “Do you want a metal bat or a wooden one like I use? I might have a metal one in the back. Not that it matters. We still have to go back for gloves. And hats.” He grins at her before pulling into traffic. Nate feels like he could almost be bouncing from excitement because he’s been wanting to teach her for a while.
“Mmm I do, don’t I? I won you didn’t I?” Kate smirks as she walks away, not bothering to look back at him as she gets in. She’s curious about why he hasn’t pulled out yet before it registers when he starts grinning at her suggestion. “You’re adorable, did you know that? Like it’s amazing. I would have suggested it early if I had known this was going to be your reaction. Silly man. I’d be honored to use your things. I’ll be using a professional’s.” She thinks about it for a minute before shrugging. “Mmm either is fine but if you don’t have a metal bat then I’ll just use a wooden one. Metal just seems more bad ass you know?” Kate can’t keep the grin off of her face as she just watches him as he drives them back home to get everything else they’ll need for the batting cages. She wonders if this is how he felt watching her when she talked about languages to him and the thought just makes her smile even more. It didn’t take long for them to get back to their condo and she opted to wait in the car while he got the gear, laughing to herself at how excited he really was. She made plans in her head to make this a regular thing for them when he was home since it made him so excited, jumping when he got back in. She hadn’t realized she was lost in thought until he got back.

Nate stands there and watches as the guy skates back to where the group is along with Kate. The guy points over and a smirk comes up on his face when his girlfriend looks over, waving slightly before leaning onto the wall again. If he didn’t know her body as well as he did, then Nate would’ve completely missed the way that she squirms on the ice before skating towards him. He laughs, noticing the way she’s biting her lip before he pulls on his innocent face. His eyebrows shoot up though, because he really wasn’t expecting Kate to be that turned on from his note. Either way, he follows her into the locker room and starts to pull off his skates as well and ties up his shoes before they’re walking back towards the desk. He doesn’t miss the look that she gives him either and he just decides to play it cool until they get back to the car. When they finally get outside, Nate holds her hand until they’re back at his car but he leads Kate towards the drivers side. There’s no one in the parking lot so he decides to take advantage of this, or as much as he can. Once he’s seated, he turns towards Kate who is still standing there and pulls her between his legs. “You gonna tell me how wet you are right now? I can tell that you’re still squirming.” He pulls up her sweater a bit then bends over to suck on her skin at her hip, leaving a mark while he waits for her answer.
Kate doesn’t buy his innocent face for a second as she skates past him, shaking her head but laughing nonetheless. She feels that familiar feeling of butterflies when Nate grabs her hand as they walk back to the car, following him to the driver’s side and standing as he sits down. “Let’s not talk about that. Let’s just say that you really shouldn’t have sent that note to me especially in front of those boys. I think that’s what pushed me past the point of no return. Which means that I win.” She lets out a slightly moan, squirming when he sucks a mark into her hip before backing away and leaning down to press a kiss to his lips. She runs her tongue along his bottom lips before nipping at it and tugging on it. She takes a breath, not really parting their lips, as she calms herself enough to move away from him. She manages to get into the passenger’s seat with no problems, turning to look at him with a quirked eyebrow while she waits for him to start the car so she can grab his hand after buckling up. “So are we heading home or did you want to head somewhere else? Ooh! Like the batting cages or something? You did say you were going to teach me how to pitch and actually hit a ball the correct way.” Sure she wouldn’t mind going straight home to make love with Nate but she’s not sure she wants the date to end just yet.

After rubbing his eyes, Nate moves to pull up a chair to sit down in since he’s almost tired of standing up then looks around the rink. It really shouldn’t take him as long as it does to spot her because he knows what she’s wearing. But then he notices a group of teenage guys who look like douchebags and his girlfriend standing there talking to him. It causes a bit of anger to stir up inside him but he tries to keep himself calm. Instead, he folds his arms over his chest and sinks into the chair as far as he can but still keep an eye on her. The thing is, Nate knows that Kate is his but there’s always this underlying fear that someone better will come along to snatch her up. There’s so many amazing things about her. Kate’s personality, how ambitious she is and all of the goals that she has for her future, her love of kids, her beauty. And the possibility of her finally waking up one day and realizing that traveling to visit him when he’s away will seem like a waste terrifies him more than it should. Nate shakes the thought from his head and moves to stand up, even though just a few seconds ago, he was tired of doing that. He leans his hands against the wall and catches the eyes of one of the guys who is talking to her then motions with his finger for him to skate over. Kate doesn’t seem to notice so when he skates him, Nate clears his throat and stares the guy down. “When you go back over there, you give her this note for me.” He avoids using an irritated voice but pulls out a pen and a receipt he had, writing down a dirty message before handing it to the guy and telling him to not read it. He leans his elbows against the wall and just waits to see what happens.
A familiar feeling of worry courses through Kate when she sees Nate rub at his eyes before finding a seat to sit in. She knows that he’s probably exhausted from all of the work he’s been doing lately, with traveling around to different games and it almost makes her stop the challenge completely. She just wants to take him home and give him a message, pamper him like he deserves and she bites her lip as she leans away from the wall. She still doesn’t know what she did to deserve someone as amazing as Nate. Between his determination to do the best he can, his sense of humor and not to mention how amazing he looks in general, it blows her mind that he was single to begin with but she’s not about to let him slip away from her. She stops herself from moving away from the group though, knowing he would say something if he wanted them to stop so she continues smiling flirtatiously with the boys. She sees something move out of the corner of her eye but she doesn’t turn, choosing to listen to one of the boys talk about what his goal is for a career, now that he’s graduated from high school. Because she wasn’t focused on anything else, she hadn’t noticed one of the boys had spoken to Nate until he was handing her a note and pointing in Nate’s direction. She watches the boys skate away from the corner of her eye before opening the note and flushing instantly at the words inside. She squirms in her spot, feeling a rush of heat flow through her as she skates over towards her boyfriend, biting her lip so hard she could have made it bleed. “Are you trying to me make me come in the middle of the rink? Because if that’s your goal it’s working. You’re taking me home right now. Better yet, find somewhere close because I might not last until we get home.” She whispers at him as she steps out of the rink and grabs his hand to pull him in the direction of the locker room. She doesn’t wait for him as she sits down to unlace her skates and pull on her boots she had worn to the rink, standing up and sending him a smoldering look over her shoulder before heading to the desk to hand back her skates.

Nate just looks into her eyes as she talks about how she’s happy if he is. And in a way, it doesn’t seem fair. Because sometimes while he’s out on the road, he isn’t happy. Not because he’s playing ball but because he misses her so much. But she’s right, when he does get back, he really loves seeing the smile on her face and how excited she looks when he gets home. “I know, but I still feel like I should be making it up to you all the time after I leave, Kate.” He lets out a hearty laugh when she says that they’d just have sex all of the time, pulling her in to whisper “We could probably just make porn if we did that,” in her ear before she starts to skate away and calls out to him. Nate’s jaw drops when she says that, knowing that a few of the teenagers around are staring at him. He skates over to her as fast as he can then picks her up bridal style before stopping towards the edge where no one was really going. Setting her down on her feet, he pushes her up against the wall to kiss her hotly, letting his hands wander up her (his) sweater so that she can feel his cold hands. “Such a tease. You’re lucky that I want to continue skating here and have a good time with my beautiful, British girlfriend.” He leans down to kiss her again, making sure to deepen it just enough to where she’ll want to moan before pulling away. Nate presses small kisses until he gets to her ear. “By the time we’re done, if you’re wet enough to where you’ve soaked your bottoms, then I’ll let you dominate me.” He pulls away and winks before skating off. Two can play that game.
Kate reaches up to cup his face in her hands and shakes her head. “You do make it up to me. Every single time. You do so much for me already, Nate. I couldn’t be happier. Honestly.” She leans up and kisses him gently, smiling and scrunching up her nose as she pulls back. She smirks at his suggestion for a porno and winks. “I think we’d be hot,” She whispers back as she skates away backward. She laughs at the look on his face, not at all ashamed that she had said that out loud. She hears a few of the teenagers snicker with her and she just shrugs. She lets out a squeal when he lifts her up, laughing as he skates away with her before she’s pressed up against a wall. She lets out a moan when he kisses her, smirking when he pulls away and nodding her head. “Only because you’re fun to tease. You have the best reactions ever, Benny boy.” Another moan works it’s way from her throat, whining when he pulls away from her and trying to keep him close. She stiles a gasp when he murmurs the words in her ear about dominating him, whimpering a bit when he skates off as a shiver works it’s way down her spine. She gets a determined look on her face as she skates towards him, leaning in closer to whisper in his ear before skating past him. “Mm and how do you suppose I get that wet? Maybe I could find one of the teens here and see if they can…help me out.” She winks as continues on her way, loving the little game they’re playing. The rush that’s coursing through her because of the fact that they’re doing this in public makes it even better.

As they wobble over towards the ice, Nate makes sure to keep his free hand either on her or near her just in case she falls, but grins when she easily makes it onto the ice. It’s probably been just as long, if not longer than Kate, since he’s skated but the muscle memory is still there even after all this time. They’re both quiet as they get used to it and actually start to move around the rink. He looks over when she speaks up, furrowing his eyebrows slightly. “I missed you, too, baby.” Nate stops in the middle so that they’re not in anyways way and pulls her close to him. He listens intently, smirking a little when Kate says that she’ll go to a sports bar and say that he’s her boyfriend. He’s incredibly proud to be hers and he wouldn’t be afraid to admit that to anyone. The fact that he’s whipped doesn’t bother him at all. “I’m glad that you’re proud of me, but it still makes me feel terrible when I have to leave. I don’t want you to resent me for leaving you alone for all those days.” Nate accepts the kiss on his cheek before setting his hands on her hips and pulling her body right up to his. “If you ever want me to leave the game, you’d tell me, right?” His eyes search her brown ones, hating how nervous this conversation is leaving him right now when they’re supposed to be having fun.
Kate can see Nate keeping his hand out around her and she smiles at how sweet it is that he’s trying to keep her from falling. “Well I would hope you did. Otherwise I just might have to pout and then show you why you should miss me.” She stops with him in the middle of the rink, watching the ones that are at skating move around them. “Are you kidding me? You’re doing what you love, Nate. I couldn’t ever fault you for that. I wouldn’t ever tell you to leave just because I get lonely. You wanna know why? Because I’m happy when you’re happy. Because I know that at the end of the day, week, whatever..you’re coming home to me. That you love me. I couldn’t ask for anymore than that. Besides we both know that if you were always home, we’d be having sex so much, I wouldn’t go to work and then what would we do.” She grins at him before skating away while she lets what she just said register. “You just going to stand there or are we going to skate? Or should we find somewhere else to go and have some fun?” She calls out to him, the grin on her face growing even more than before. She can’t stop the laughter bubbling up in her throat, wondering when she got so outspoken but she wasn’t about to complain.

When they get to the car, Nate starts it up and begins to drive towards the skating rink before he finally looks over at her. “Literally shaking, huh? Pretty excited to go.” He raises her hand after he laces their fingers together and kisses the back of her knuckles. “I don’t mind if you stole my sweater, Fletch. Looks good on you.” Nate realizes that he hasn’t called her that in a while, but smiles because he knows it’ll catch her off guard. Not that it distracts her for long because she’s bouncing in her seat from being so excited. The drive isn’t too long and soon they’re climbing out of the car, or racing out like in Kate’s actions, then moving towards the doors. “I’m coming! Geez.” He laughs then smiles softly at how cute she is. It’s pretty empty but he prefers it that way. It gives them more room to skate around instead of having to worry about hitting other people. He moves towards the front desk and gets their skates, signing the receipt after paying before heading back towards her. “You pumped up?” Nate winks at Kate before setting the skates down and moving so that his hands are on either side of her body then leans down to kiss her. “How is it possible for you to look even more beautiful right now?” He pulls back to look into her eyes then kisses her nose before sitting down next to her to pull on the skates.
“I’m mainly excited to be with you. Skating is just a plus when you think about it.” Kate smiles down at their laced hands, calming down a bit and looking out the window. She starts when she hears the name Fletch come from him, glancing over and smiling. “Of course you don’t Benny Boy. Bet you love seeing me in your clothes.” She’s teasing him but she’s being serious in a way. She does love wearing his clothes and he does seem to like it quite a bit from what they get up to when she does wear them. She sticks her tongue when she hears him laugh, looking around the rink while he gets their skates for them. “I’m way pumped! I swear I could float away right now from how excited I am.” She smiles up at him softly from her place on the bench, kissing him back and humming in pleasure. “You have to say that. You’re my boyfriend.” She laughs when he kisses her nose, bending down to lace up the skates and standing up as soon as she’s done, holding her hand out to him. “You ready?” She raises an eyebrow as a challenge, talking his hand and waddling towards the entrance of the rink. It’s been a while since she’s skated but it’s like second nature to her, keeping her hand laced with his and moving around the rink slowly but steadily. “I missed you, you know? But I’m so proud of you. I like sit there either at the actual game or go to one of those sports bars and I’m like ‘that’s my boyfriend! He’s amazing’. I’m just happy you’re getting to do what you love, you know?” She kisses him on the cheek to emphasize.

Nate felt like he was having a pretty great day. He pitched tonight and they won, which was always awesome, then he got the night off since it was a day game. Even though he wasn’t necessarily neglecting Kate, he felt like he owed it to her to take his girlfriend out for a really fun date to try and make up for all the time that he has to leave. So Nate quickly showered then pulled on jeans, a shirt and a button up over it then headed into the living room to watch baseball highlights with Chipper. He hears giggling and a meow coming from the other room and it makes him smile. Since he has to be on the road so often, it makes him appreciate little things like that a lot more than he would’ve otherwise. He’s just about to switch the channel when Kate’s voice fills the room, causing him to look over. “You look beautiful.” Nate notices that she says it a little out of breath but accepts the kiss. Chipper barks and he laughs, knowing the dog is agreeing then turns off the TV so that he can stand. His arm wraps around her waist, using it as leverage to pull her towards him then dips down to kiss her lips. “Excited about our date?” His free hand reaches up so that he can tug on one of her braids, smirking a bit.
Kate blushes and grins up at Nate, laughing with him when Chipper barks after his comment. “Thank you, Nate. And you too Chipper. Buttercup approved before I walked out so I have to say I’m glad the response was unanimous.” She lets him pull her in, kissing him back and smiling into it. “I’m so excited I was literally shaking earlier. You have no idea. It’s been a long time since I went ice skating and we’re marking one of the things on my bucket list off today by going.” She kisses him again before pulling away and walking towards the door, grabbing his hand to drag him. “I’m surprised you haven’t said anything about me stealing your sweater,” she tells him as they walk towards the car. She can’t begin to explain how excited she is about going skating with him though he could probably tell from how much she’s bouncing in her seat. She squeals as they pull up to the rink, not waiting very long before unbuckling and hopping out the car. “COME ON NATE!” She bites her lip as she waits for him to make his way to her, linking her arm with his and heading towards the entrance. It takes her a minute to notice how empty the rink is, only a few skating around but she’s not about to complain.

To say that Kate is excited would be an understatement. It has been a while since Nate and her have been able to go out on a date but tonight is about to change that. She runs around the room, trying to finish getting ready and make sure she has everything in order. She pulls on her black skinny jeans before running towards the closet to grab herself one of Nate’s sweaters and throws it on. She stands in front of the mirror, braiding her hair into two braids before smiling and nodding to herself. It’s insane how nervous she feels despite it being one of many dates they had been on before things got crazy. She’s not complaining though. If anything she’s proud of him and she tries to show him that everyday. She pulls on her ankle boots before turning toward Buttercup whose lounging on the bed and spins around. “How do I look?” She laughs when she gets a meow in return, petting her kitten before heading into the living where Nate said he would be waiting. “Okay, I’m ready.” She calls out if not a bit breathless as she walks over to where he is and kisses him on the cheek.
